In many (too many if you ask me) less economically developed countries, education is not public. And it certainly is not free. There are a number of things that you have to supply yourself. This includes books and strict uniforms, right down to the right coloured socks and headbands for girls. The first day is fast approaching and panic is consuming you. The decision between feeding your children and sending them to school is in your hands. You know that their education is the only way to ensure a healthy future for them. Here’s the problem… You can barely afford food, let alone schooling for your youngsters.
This is the cruel reality for millions worldwide on a daily basis. What’s portrayed in the media may be shocking and overwhelming at times. It’s important that we focus on the things we CAN do and not the things that we CAN’T do because we can all help in some way, shape or form. Whether it be big ways or many little ways. We all have the power to do something.
At Cité School in Haiti, there are more than 150 children. We want to keep them there, where they can learn and develop into smart, inspirational adults. But in order for them to learn, they need teachers, meals, uniforms and supplies. They can’t stay in school unless they have these essentials. At the start of the school year, someone came to Project Ash. They came to us and donated 75 backpacks and the school supplies that should be in them. This GIFT was potentially lifesaving for these students. A friend of the school also raised money and provided even more supply-filled backpacks for other children in need. The look of complete joy when they received these will stay with us for many years to come.
You can be a part of this; there are so many more children out there in need of someone like you! You can see photographs and read true stories of the incredible children who are part of the Project Ash family.
We thank you, for being a part of a child’s present and future. If it weren’t for people like you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
